Albert
Okay, I've just updated the Z-Adventure Development Page with a ton of new screenshots as well as the binary that you can try out in your favorite emulator. I'm sure John will love to see your comments! ..Al
oesii
Thanks for releasing the binary to try out, I like the colors and those are some nice bookcases
+Cafeman
I just tried it out on VSS here at work. It's a cool idea John, a little strange to play this type of game (with 'reading signposts' and 'enter the building' as found in later 8bit and 16bit games) on the 5200! It's cool how your character presses against the bookshelves prompting his on-screen thoughts to show up.
ziggystar
There will be quite a few changes in the design. Right now I'm working on the engine for the game. The maps and rooms you see now are just test rooms. It will be quite a different game when I'm done. Ideas at this point would be great. I want my game to have the feel of a zelda game, but I want it to be different enough to not get in any trouble. John
Bob Mackey
I tried using the rom with VSS, but it didn't work... anyone think they know what I'm doing wrong?
+Cafeman
Bob, it works for me on VSS. I've heard VSS and 800win do not work well with Windows XP, but I use NT and ME myself.
Bob Mackey
Interesting. I just renamed the file and it works fine, now. Anyways, it's pretty neat!
Goochman
I played a few 5200 games on Atari800Win 3.1 tonight without issue under WinXP Prof
LiquidPenguin
When I saw the title of this post, I thought it was a new Adventure game... 3D Adventure actually. Since I was thinking Z meant the Z buffer commonly referred to in modern 3D games.... So I'm not sure if Nintendo would have a fit over a game or title like that. It's not like you're equating yourself with Zelda... are you? Still good though... I would like to give it a shot.
ziggystar
Well I Did change the name to Irata's Quest: Doomed Isle. That way I can have other installments later. The "Z" didn't lead to many story ideas for me.
LiquidPenguin
Is this going to be sold in the AA store or is it going to be released as a ROM?
Jetboot Jack
It may be my perverse net connection, but the ROM image seems inaccessible (error 404)... sTeVE
Albert
It may be my perverse net connection, but the ROM image seems inaccessible (error 404)... My bad--when I changed the name of the game from "Z-Adventure" to "Irata's Quest" I forgot to rename the binary and ZIP file. It's now fixed. ..Al
