atari 800xl reset button don't work

Just bought another atari 800xl.

Every letter works on the keyboard. All system checks are good only problem is the RESET button does nothing

 

Anyway I can fix this or do you think the keyboard is about to die? The select,option, and start work fine...joysticks ports and fine and cartridge slot is good too...

Reset is seperate to every other key and on some machines probably copped a bit of user-induced torture.

 

It's not part of the matrix, it uses pin 24 on the keyboard ribbon.

 

More likely than anything it'd be a mechanical or switch contact problem, should be covered in one of the threads about repairing keyboards.

If Reset key has a reserved pin on the keyboard ribbon, perhaps you could check keyboard ribbon too, in particular where it plugs into the motherboard's connector.

Probably more a physical problem with the switch itself - my 600XL does it. It became better after repeat usage.
