benjam138 #1 Posted December 8, 2002 Just wondering how hard it would be to make a Track & Field where you could run just by holding down the run buttons on the T&F controller or by using a Genesis controller with Turbo? I know it's cheating, but I've been playing the NES Track & Field for years with a turbo controller. And have just recently been playing DecAthlete for the Saturn with a turbo controller. Now I'm addicted!!!!
Cupcakus #2 Posted December 8, 2002 Whelp... It's a 16k ROM image... and only Thomas has the cahonies to try and get a dissasembly of it... And Unlike NES T&F you don't button mash to make the character run... you have to rotate the joystick in a circle, which is a little harder to "rapid" fire... benjam138 #3 Posted December 8, 2002 Yeah I know but on the Track & Field controller you mash the 2 buttons.
Sir Plus #4 Posted December 8, 2002 Should be relatively easy to do if the routine is checking alternating switches' status before allowing the running speed to increase. You could just take out that routine to make the speed increase regardless if the switch is off. One possible monkey in the wrench would be false starts during the game. And it would be a hack, not a homebrew.
