NIAD #1 Posted December 27, 2010 (edited) Every other week I'm going to try to post a 3rd Party ADAM Computer game that I feel deserves a little attention along with all the terrific ColecoVision games (if this gets a favorable response, I will continue). I will stay away from Coleco made ADAM games as probably most everyone that visits this forum knows about these, and will concentrate on the lesser known, but very deserving 3rd Party games that were developed after Coleco stopped their support of the CV and ADAM. The inaugural game is: MicroChip by Steve Pitman Software It will work in ADAMem, Virtual ADAM and even M.E.S.S., but you will not be able to save you progress in M.E.S.S. so stick with one of the other two as there is no way to play thru the entire game in one sitting... you will go mad! The game is based on a popular Japanese puzzle game on paper, you may have already seen Nintendo's version for the Game Boy called Mario's Picross (Released April 95). Full instructions are built into the game and loaded when Micro-Chip is booted, you can access them even during a game, So you don't have to waste any time or paper printing them out. Here are some screenshots and of course the disk image for use in your favorite emulator or to convert back to an actual ADAM format disk. Enjoy! Tempest #6 Posted December 27, 2010 Neat! I was going to put my ADAM away because I really don't use it anymore. Now, maybe not... Tempest
ChuckH #7 Posted December 27, 2010 I love this game and I've been through it a couple of times. Steve says that you shouldn't have to guess but there are some levels that I had to have some hints to make it through. You have to save states though. I use VirtualAdam. Good idea Jim. NIAD #8 Posted December 28, 2010 (edited) Neat! I was going to put my ADAM away because I really don't use it anymore. Now, maybe not... Tempest Keep that ADAM Computer handy, or at least the ADAMem/Virtual ADAM Emulator! There were some really good games developed over the years for the system that everyone should find very entertaining... I know I did back in the day and still enjoy playing some of them now-a-days. Unfortunately, when I sold off all my CV and ADAM gear in the late 90's, I did not make copies of the instruction manuals for games that don't have built-in instructions or a SmartWRITER "doc" file so I will try to track these down from other ADAMites before posting said games or provide a review from the NIAD Newsletter to give everyone an idea of the play mechanics, etc. Since we are on the subject of missing instructions manuals, there are two games' instruction manuals I was wondering if anyone could provide a digital copy of say in PDF format, they are StratoZap and Temple of the Snow Dragon. A lot of you are probably familiar with Temple of the Snow Dragon, but I would still like to highlight this game and the instruction manual would REALLY help along with a the "Hints and Tips" articles and a map I already have in PDF format. NIAD #9 Posted December 28, 2010 Wow. Never knew the ADAM had a game like this! THanks for sharing. You should have kept your membership current back then... I seem to recall that around 1988 you weren't around much anymore and didn't attend anymore users group meetings at the store. You must have been consumed by the NES! Great video Daniel :!: I especially like the 8X speedup... I wish I could solve these puzzles that fast. I forgot to mention, there is saved data on the disk image that will allow one to start on Level 18, 19 or 20 if they decide to skip ahead a little... but if you are new to the game I would recommend starting at Level 1 just so that you'll learn the basics because the puzzles start to get pretty complicated and require some very good intellectual skills. I love these types of games and with all the levels you have to solve to finish the game, there is not to much concern over replay value, because when you finally finish them all, you'll probably never want to see the game again. Unless, of course, it's to show off to your friends that you completed all the puzzles.
NIAD #12 Posted December 31, 2010 I've decided to post one ADAM game per week as the bi-weekly posting will just drag things out too much. Also, I will post the new game on Friday or at the latest Saturday so that everyone will have the weekend to enjoy it. Coming tomorrow is none other then: ADAM Bomb 2 - The Rescue I know a lot of people are familiar with this one already and might also have a disk image of it, but being the most advanced 3rd Party ADAM game ever developed, I figured I'd cover it now instead of in a couple of months. I also have a few additional items that will be included like a FULL COLOR map of the ADAM Bomb 2 World that was created by Steve Pitman just a couple of months ago, an Editor program also just created by Steve, a very good Hints and Instruction guide and the disk image will include a save game that will place you at about 2/3 of the way thru the game if you want to use it.

It's a 4 Mb file so its too big to include in this post. I also made PDF's of the instructions for Super Donkey Kong, Family Feud, the disk version insert cards for Expertype & Recipe Filer, and a jpg of the card to order AdamLink 2. I can send you those too if you need them.

ChuckH #17 Posted January 1, 2011 Curse you, Jim! I had finished Micro Chip twice and I thought that I finally was done with it ,which I am. But then you mention the Gameboy Picross and there is also Picross for Super Nintendo and I'm hooked again. I guess that I'll have to try ADAM Bomb 2. NIAD #19 Posted April 15, 2012 Finally was able to find some free time to complete all 100 levels of MicroChip! I have included a new disk image of the game that will allow you to start on Level 99 or 100. Unfortunately, the save feature of the game is a little limiting seeing as you can only save up to three levels... it should have kept track of the last level that was completed and allow the user to start on any level up to the last completed. Still, it's a great game. MicroChip (1995) (Steve Pitman Software) (100th level).zip
