S1500 #1 Posted December 27, 2010 So yesterday I decided to ditch my old flip phone in favor of a smartphone. Got the T-mobile myTouch slide. Love it. I noticed on the entertainment apps there are a LOT of classic games ported over. The first one I tried was Super Mario Bros 3. Problem? No keyboard support + nagware screens. There's no way I can tap on a flat screen where the game display is to enjoy it. Yuck. Are there any slide-out keyboard friendly gaming apps(emulators, etc) I should look into? I know it's iPhone this, IPhone that, but there has to be something made with keyboard support. I'm loving this phone so far. Have to figure out how to change wallpapers(ie make my own) + custom ringtones. Wouldn't mind a CBS Radio news jingle for the ringtone. But how does one do it themselves? SlowCoder #2 Posted December 27, 2010 Search "emulator" in downloadable apps. You can play a miriad of classic roms with them. I've got about 3500 roms on my phone. The ones I use do support the hard keyboard.
mimo #3 Posted December 27, 2010 Just got a HTC desire and the emulator I have tried all have the same problem . I am going to try one of the Wii remote apps to link up a Wii controller for emulation . Problem is I have to root the HTC. Check out your mobile you may be able to use one of the Wii remote apps natively
Emehr #4 Posted December 27, 2010 I found the emulators to be unplayable even with a physical keyboard. Might be good for RPGs and turn-based type games, though. For ringtone stuff, search for Ringdroid in the Android market. It's like a mini sound editor that lets you select what portion of a song you want to use as the ringtone. Personally, I just cut my own on my Mac with a sound editor, copy to my microSD card, and set the clip as a ringtone with the Music app.
ls650 #5 Posted December 27, 2010 I agree. I have tried several emus on both my Android tablet and phone, and although the emulators do a great job, they need a physical input device. Touchscreen sucks for traditional Dpad input controls.
