Heaven/TQA #1 Posted December 29, 2010 Just read the ABBUC Magazine and the small letter from David Fox & Chris Crawford greeting ABBUC for 25th anniversary. Cool. If you missed RG #44 regarding Rescue on Fractalus you can find the article on David's website: http://electriceggplant.com/media/RG44_RescueOnFractalus.pdf
carmel_andrews #2 Posted December 29, 2010 Interesting that Atari funded lucasfilm's entry into videogames to the tune of 1m USD (possibly another 'Atari' spin off, alongside Activision, imagic, amiga and others)

Rybags #5 Posted December 29, 2010 A million bucks was a buttload back then. Would probably have covered the budget for doing a dozen or more games in 1984.

Rybags #7 Posted December 29, 2010 Yeah... I just meant the dev part though, not the decision to make 50 times more copies of a crap game that would have been needed to satisfy sales demand.
Bryan #8 Posted December 29, 2010 It's also interesting that Atari was apparently responsible for leaking pre-release versions of the games. I remember the first time I saw BallBlaster. I'm pretty sure it was the first time I'd seen convincing 1st person action on the Atari. I 'bout crapped my pants. Here's a little more info from David Fox (interesting what he says about the bright flashes in Fractalus): http://www.dadgum.com/halcyon/BOOK/FOX.HTM

Mathy #12 Posted December 29, 2010 Hello ThomSW Hmmm... Why no greetings from Cindy Crawford? You're probably mistaking David Fox for Samantha Fox. sincerely Mathy
+Stephen #14 Posted December 29, 2010 You're probably mistaking David Fox for Samantha Fox. sincerely Mathy Yeah - that's a fairly easy mistake vs. Had to - just for the eye-candy.
