ThumpNugget
AtariUser was a small magazine dedicated to all the various products produced by Atari. The magazine ran from May 1991 to October 1993 (21 issues total). I believe the magazine was free (with a subscription option) with the majority of issues were given out in California. If you have looked at the BYTE scanning efforts this will run along those lines.. Roughly one magazine per week will be posted in PDF format until they are all posted. The size of the PDFs will run around 20-30meg each. The initial thread post (what you are reading now) will be updated as magazine are posted.. This magazine is similar in quality and size as a comic book so it is considerably more difficult to get good scans. Don't expect them to look as good as the BYTE/Analog/ANTIC/SoftSide/STart magazines The complete list of AtariUser magazine is listed below. When a magazine is put up for download the pages/size/Date will be modified... Notice that there are two issues missing! I am really hoping that someone has these and can donate them.. I have not been able to locate them and it would be a shame not to have the complete set digitized. No Christmas issue? Hmm! Almost 1992 and what is listed as "hot" for the 8-bit? That's right - PacMan and AtariWriter. That is the only 8-bit mention in the magazine this month besides the big 8-bit icon in the index for no apparent reason.. ST, Portfolio, and Lynx are shown a little more love. Magazines from this time frame are hard to read sometimes. The writers and readers are holding out hope that Atari will come back strong and look for news to support that. This month we add four pages, change the format to keep it looking fresh and an interesting year in review article. ThumpNugget
AtariUser 11 1992-03 Guide to Getting Online - 36 Pages 29,945,842 bytes Issue #11 of AtariUser Magazine from March 1992.. Some changes to the magazine format and in my opinion one fo the best issues. This one focused on telecommunications including all the main services and BBS's. Mostly ST based stuff with just a smidgen of 8-bit. I remember using Aladdin on GEnie back in the day so the article was very enjoyable. There is also a call out about PC-Pursuit (spelled wrong in the magazine) and compression programs that was not listed in the index for some reason. The news and reviews were particularity interesting this month (many pages and the new headline formats are nice) though no mention of Z*Net this month and they generally had many smaller news update..
