switch is crazy

my game select switch goes crazy when turned on. it works fine but that switch goes 1,2,3... ive cleaned it. what do you think the peoblem is? it slides smooth and the belt (6 switch) appears fine.

It sounds like it is getting shorted somewhere. Have you tried removing it to see if it's the switch or the board?

I suppose that it could do that if some of the solder is working loose. Those spring switches seem to be the first to go (since they are used most often).

Not to mention the pins are what hold them at the right hight.

Very easy to end up with a bad solder joint.

i just replaced the switch and does the same thing. i would appreciate any suggestions.

Then it prolly IS a short someplace. Too bad it's not the switch.

 

I dont know much about hardware, so I can't really help much.

i just noticed that the bar that goes across where you plug the belt in seems broke. if you look through the holes the bar is broke and not joined. could this be a problem?
