Alphasys #2 Posted January 13, 2011 Maybe you can explain a bit more? How are the lx12, sio2sd and atari connected? Does it help when you disconnect something? Turbo2000 is a program I don't know, but I suppose it's a turbo cassette preloader/convertor program? If you have only the lx12 connected to the Atari when trying to do this, there is possibly some damage in either the cassette player, or the Atari. Worst case scenario is some damage to the pokey chip. If all 3 devices are connected, try it without the sio2sd connected. If that helps, the sio2sd is somehow degrading or blocking the signal. Hope that helps diagnose the problem...
charliecron #3 Posted January 13, 2011 I'm unable to load a cassette image over an sio2pc cable to real hardware while a real tape drive is connected on the daisy chain If I disconnect the tape drive all is well. I can however, load a tape from a real tape drive while the sio2pc is connected. Anyone know whats up with that? Anyway yes, disconnecting the sio2sd is good advice. Kr0tki #4 Posted January 13, 2011 (edited) I'm unable to load a cassette image over an sio2pc cable to real hardware while a real tape drive is connected on the daisy chain It's the same situation as if you had two real tape recorders connected at the same time - it simply won't work. When loading starts, the computer sends a signal to all tape recorders to start their motors. One of the drives has PLAY pressed so it starts rolling, but at the same time the other one sends noise which causes a loading error. EDIT: The reason that it works for you when you load from the tape drive, is that SIO2PC does not send any noise when idle, unlike a real tape drive. Rybags #5 Posted January 13, 2011 Sounds feasible. I can remember attempting loads and not even pressing Play, and getting random noise that'd cause errors other than the expected Timeout (138) Could also be the case even if the tape player has no power since some of the internals is powered by the computer. charliecron #6 Posted January 13, 2011 Thanks for the answer, I figured as much. I was just worried my cheapo sio2pc was the culprit. Guess this problem is not going away then!
