lisalover1 #1 Posted January 6, 2011 I'm interested in modding my Genesis/Sega CD/32X setup with a high-quality video connection, so I am looking for someone to mod my 32X with VGA, S-Video, or Component-out. Please PM me with any offers you may have.
ApolloBoy #2 Posted January 7, 2011 You're not going to be able to get VGA or S-video out of a 32X, I'm afraid. However, you can get component video out of it by getting an RGB SCART cable and a SCART to component converter. It'll give you a perfect picture without any modifications, and you can also take advantage of the converter by getting SCART cables for your other systems that output RGB (ex. SNES, Neo-Geo, PS1, etc.).

I know about the SCART option, but it is just so expensive, and you need so many components to make it work, that I am looking into other methods first. Well, if it is the recommended way, then could you let me know what parts you used? I already have the Genesis SCART cable, but I can't find a SCART audio passthrough anywhere. You can get RGB, that's what the SCART RGB cable gets. However it's low rate (15Khz) RGB which means nearly every monitor you are going to find (unless they are ancient CRT based ones like the C1084s) is not going to be able to handle the signal properly. Ah, I see. Thanks for the info. So, what do you have in your Genesis SCART setup?
ApolloBoy #7 Posted January 7, 2011 (edited) I know about the SCART option, but it is just so expensive, and you need so many components to make it work, that I am looking into other methods first. It's probably going to be less expensive than having your Genesis modded with a JROK board though. It's honestly not that complicated at all. All you need is a SCART cable that outputs RGB, the SCART to component converter (which requires an external power supply), and some component cables. You also might need a SCART breakout box so that you still have RCA audio jacks. That's all there is to it. And as I said, you can take full advantage of the converter by tracking down SCART cables for your other systems. So not only will your Genesis have perfect video, but any other system that outputs RGB will benefit as well. I just bought a SCART to component converter myself and I'm eagerly awaiting all the SCART cables I bought for my various systems. lisalover1 #8 Posted January 7, 2011 So, I could just get this: eBay Auction -- Item Number: 220698772855 and this: eBay Auction -- Item Number: 390254792725 along with the Genesis SCART cable I already have, it should work on my NTSC TV?
