Recommended Posts

SOLD - $30 plus $5 shipping, insurance covered by seller for "peace of mind"

My New Year's resolution cleaning sale continues - -

Own the hottest orange cartridge that your collection needs - TIGERVISION's THRESHOLD in excellent condition!

No instructions, sadly, so to cheer you up, BONUS CARTRIDGES - - MYTHICON's FIRE FLY and STAR FOX with instructions!

I sort of look at this as the "cartridges with flying things on the front of them set" ;)

  • Slight label lift noticed on edges of THRESHOLD and a slight wrinkle on the front of FIRE FLY (see detailed pictures below)
  • FIRE FLY and STAR FOX instructions are in great condition (again, see detailed pictures below)
  • Dog, cat, goat, elephant, etc.-free household, n' no smokin' either!

It's a fun set, if you are looking to get hold of THRESHOLD and a few MYTHICON carts with instructions!

  •
  • $30 for the lot

  • PLUS cost of USPS Priority Shipping from 80401 and insurance ($5.00, small box, but risks crushing, $10.50 large box, safe, but, well, large! Approximately $1.75 for insurance.)

  • Cartridges will be plastic bagged, all put in an anti-static bag, and then surrounded by bubble wrap. Box will be re-enforced with cardboard
  • Instructions will be sandwiched between stiff cardboard

  • I take my packing seriously, and I want it all to arrive for YOU the way I would want it to arrive for ME!

Here's some additional FUN - -

In the "electronic GAMES" magazine

"1983 Arcade Awards" (January 1983 issue)

THRESHOLD received the - -

"Best Science Fiction / Fantasy Video Game"

"Certificate of Merit"

- - DEFENDER took the top award in that category (really, editors??)

AND, here's some nice magazine scans of that issue!

PLUS, bonus, an ad for THRESHOLD in the same magazine issue where they toot their own horn. A lot!

Thought you might all enjoy those. It really puts the game in context.

I found that issue here, at retromags.com, where there is a LOT more fun reading to be had:

Space Jockey and Word Zapper also got "certificates of merit" -??? really?

Ah yes, SPACE JOCKEY, which routinely gets lambasted on various "Worst Of" lists around on the Inter-webs!

WORD ZAPPER actually made it into their "Most Innovative Video Game" category - - yes, it is that . . .

"This is one brain game that won't turn off the blast . . ." it says there on the last page, and then it gets cut off!

I was left in horrible, gripping suspense, as no doubt were you, so I have uploaded the next page, so we can all bask in the glory of Word Zapper's honorable mention:
