King_Salamon #1 Posted January 13, 2011 Ok... Yurkie is pimping out a Colecovision for me in the next little bit and I have a stack of fresh carts coming from Pixelboy and Retroillucid but what about my old carts. I want to give them a nice cleaning to help my Coleco stay nice and fresh! What's the best way to clean the carts? Q-Tip and alcohol? I want to get the contacts nice. The longer I can keep my games and system in tip top shape, the better. Ok.. input time. Suggestions? Tips and tricks? Anything a person shouldn't do? DeoxIT is best, but if you want to use alcohol I recommend using only 99% Isopropyl alcohol, not the 50% or 70% stuff. Put it on a Q-tip and move in and out rubbing the contacts. Rubbing side to side you might damage the contact traces.
King_Salamon #3 Posted January 13, 2011 Thanks Yurkie... I'll give them the alcohol treatment... don't have DeoxIT and want to avoid buying any... I should have the Isopropyl stuff here somewhere.

You most likely have the watery 50% or 70% stuff. I would recommend going to the pharmacy and getting a bottle of 99%. It costs about a $1.50 here in the US.
