There are 2 optical sensors one for horizontal movement and another for Vertical. These sensors seem to either work 100% or not at all. I am not sure if new replacement sensors are available. You could just get a brand new one from here: http://www.collectorscardsandgames.com/new/Colecovision.html I've bought several games from him including one of these Roller Controllers and all of my transactions have been good. He has an overstock of Roller Controllers that were water damaged.
