Manticore #1 Posted January 17, 2011 Hi all, I have a cuttlecart 1 that does not turn over from the LOAD A GAME screen (the sidebars are scrolling nicely so the game isnt crashed). The Atari unit is a heavy sizer, and it seems fine, as it plays other cartridges correctly. I tried a 2600Jr and it does the same thing. I am using a generic (albeit stock specification) 500 mA 9V DC power supply I assembled a binary and downloaded a binary from the net. Both of them play in my Stella emulator, but my cuttlecart doesn't load the .bins when I play them with PlayBin. I don't have any documentation for the Cuttlecart, but I am playing with the volume and speed parameters. Any ideas on how to debug or diagnose what is happening? At this point I am thinking that it is my sound drivers on my pc. Any help is appreciated, thanks -David
+GroovyBee #2 Posted January 17, 2011 I'm not too familiar with the first gen Cuttle Cart but have you tested the cable between the PC and the Cuttle Cart on anything else?
Manticore #3 Posted January 17, 2011 (edited) I'm not too familiar with the first gen Cuttle Cart but have you tested the cable between the PC and the Cuttle Cart on anything else? It's possible there is a break in the wire I suppose. It's hardwired into the cartridge, so it's not easily replaceable. +GroovyBee #4 Posted January 17, 2011 Do you have a continuity tester or a multimeter?

+GroovyBee #6 Posted January 17, 2011 Just a suggestion but if you don't have the right tools, maybe the person you borrow the test equipment from should check it out for you. You'll need to take some antistatic precautions when taking hard to find equipment apart for fault diagnosis and testing.

Manticore #9 Posted January 20, 2011 (edited) Check the volume level, it needs to be moderately loud. Mitch Thanks guys, yes the volume has to be at 100% or it doesn't pick it up. After reinstalling the realtek HD 3d sound drivers on the xp box, it works! Edited January 20, 2011 by Manticore
