Coleco standalone tv game system---proto?

Recommended Posts

So I was at a thrift store and picked up a "Coleco head to head video game system"

According to youtube and the rest of the internet, it has a port on the top to plug in a second controller, and it features 12 games.

Well mine does not have the port on the top, and only has 6 games. All are different sports titles.

you can see the version with 12 games, COMPLETELY different game select screen, and a port on the top at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPgR15t3lfs

does anyone know anything about this sytem? anyone have one like mine? heres a picture of mine.

Yup...a modern shovelware producer using the Coleco name to brand a crappy product. Nothing "proto" about it...this is the oldest type of marketing around.

Yeah and I wouldn't have posted a thread about it unless there was these differences I couldn't explain

I dunno what you mean by "the rest of the internet" (other than the 12-game version being more common). Searching for coleco 6 built-in games got dozens of hits. Here's a pic of the box (not mine).

you must be better at googling than me, because I couldn't find anything on them. Even on your search "coleco 6 built-in games" I only see 1 or 2 pics with no description

Search without the quotes next time. Sometimes, it helps. You gotta weed thru the irrelevant hits, but it digs up more when you aren't going verbatim (esp. from those who cannot spell).

Yeah they sold two versions. The two player one was the head 2 head version and came in a plastic case that held the two controllers. What was strange is when wal-mart was clearing them out a few years ago the two player version were $1.99 each and the one player version was $2.50.

I think I bought one of those from Wallmart for only $1. It kinda sucks, and the football game doesn't work on mine. 4 of the 6 games are pretty much the same game with different graphics.
