Crazy Climber #1 Posted January 20, 2011 Hello While going through all my Cousins old video games from childhood he stumbled on a MGH Game Hunter, a device used to make back-ups of SNES and Genesis games. He is not a collector so his first question was of course, how much is it worth? Well, I have no idea on this one. I've seen them before but can't remember what they sell for. Does anyone know? Or better yet is anyone interested in it? No box included but the unit is otherwise complete and assumed working (we will test it before it is sold if anyone wants it of course)If you have anything to ad please do, Thanks guys - Brian
stjames88 #2 Posted January 20, 2011 Cool, I remeber salivating over these back in the day. They were pricey back then.....I believe in the $500-$700 range. The explosion of the emulation scene kinda made them obsolete. I have no idea what they are worth now. If I was still trying to complete my SNES library, I would probably offer like $150ish....thats just a guess on my end though. Can these be sold on eBay, or are they considered banned? True, hardcore collectors really value having the box and styrofoam and manuals that came with the units, and it's pretty rare to find someone that still has them from units this old. They are also of limited use today, because floppies are tedious, slow, and of limited capacity (and getting rare to find a drive to use them with). With more modern units available (Everdrive SNES, SNES PowerPak, Neo Myth SNES) priced around $150ish, you'd think that the value to a user wanting to use it for playing would be much less. However, there are many collectors out there who may be interested. Forget about ebay-- as soon as it's sniffed out, it will get nuked. I've sold a couple of SNES copier units on tototek's forums http://www.tototek.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=11 You might want to post it there and see if you get some traction. There are several for sale offers with similar units, so you can get a better idea of asking price. I've found that there are many collectors that check that forums that are still interested in these units. Be careful though-- make sure you vet out the buyer as best as you can (paypal verified, match address with paypal address on record, etc). It seems to be a lot more "wild west" there. I will say that I've sold 2 things there and bought once, and I never had a problem. I even shipped a system to a guy in Germany without issue. Good luck!
