Crickster #1 Posted January 21, 2011 About how much would it cost to add a cart slot to a Flashback 2 and would anyone accept any trades? Alternatively if anyone has a modded Flashback 2 how much are they willing to sell it for? Thanks!
Madaracs #2 Posted January 21, 2011 About how much would it cost to add a cart slot to a Flashback 2 and would anyone accept any trades? Alternatively if anyone has a modded Flashback 2 how much are they willing to sell it for? Thanks! You might consider just buying a real Atari VCS. Personally, I haven't seen any threads around here with people selling modded Flashbacks. Good luck though!

ComputerSpaceFan #4 Posted January 22, 2011 For comparison of costs and getting one modded, I thought I would let you know Ben Heck modded mine for me and he only charged me around a hundred bucks for the work. Unfortunately, Ben is a bit of an artist and seems to only want to do "one offs" so I'm not sure if he'd be interested in modding another one. Still, you can always try him. http://benheck.com/
Carey85 #5 Posted January 22, 2011 You'd be much better off paying someone to put an s-video kit into a 2600 as opposed to paying someone $75 to put a cart slot in a Flashback 2.
anakedg #6 Posted January 22, 2011 Im actually interested in trying doing one myself. I havent even seen how people cut out the cart slot or where they put it anyone have info on that?

IMO the procedure is only useful if somebody likes to tinker. Paying somebody to do it for you kinda defeats the purpose there.

See, now that would be fun. And if you wreck it, you can buy another one for pretty cheap.

Yeah I've been seeing them around for not to much at some second hand stores around here and it doesnt seem like the parts to mod it would cost more than a few dollars, if I fudge it I think i would be out 30 bucks tops. I dont think that I need to spend 100ish or more for one when I have 9 2600s at the moment, lol. I think im looking for the "this is neat" aspect rather than "this is functional". I have yet to see the methods used for cutting the slot the right size as well as mounting and location of the cart slot. The modding seems like possibly the easiest aspect (at least looking at the tutorial that was posted earlier in the thread).
MitchSchaft #10 Posted January 24, 2011 There's another thread here showing someone cutting the hole.
poker_plus #11 Posted January 24, 2011 I've sold/traded a couple of these. Here It's a pain and I wouldn't do it for less than $150 or a really cool trade now. It looks neat, but it's frustrating when your favorite game won't run. The Flashback is amazing and Curt is awesome, however I second the recommendation for 2600 with svideo. I posted a thread a week or two ago asking about hiring someone to do this, and did not get any responses...

I agree with your assessment. There is clearly a huge gap between what people are willing to pay and what people are willing to do the mod for. This is why when asked if I will do a FB2 mod for someone, I simply decline rather than giving them a quote.

Wow thanks for that list of games that work and don't work. No HERO and Pitfall II = no go for me and thanks everyone for posting about the AV mods. ComputerSpaceFan #15 Posted January 26, 2011 Although H.E.R.O. does not work on a Flashback 2, I have discovered it does work on mine through my Harmony Cartridge. Just thought I'd add that in.
