Is this a good/bad/gimmick device(s) etc?

Recommended Posts

What the heck is this? Has anyone heard of this? Its an easy search on Yahoo so I assume most people have seen this (except me of course)

It looks like they stuck MAME and bunch of ROMS on a chip and placed it in a controller to hook up to your TV set.

If the emulation is "exact" like MAME, then I think it might be a little fun on a big TV. I also wonder how accurate the GUN controller might be.

I don't know.... I'm thown a bit by the "suggested RETAIL value" part.

Sounds a bit shady to me. But Mame has been hacked many times

and thrown into pretty much anything, so it's possible.

That is an HK Famicom clone. Not MAME at all. You'll notice that the pictures on that are labeled "Examples of games you played long ago". Not "These are actual screen shots from this device". I have one of these clones (Mine's shaped like a PSone and has a Famicom Cartridge slot) The fact that "Milk and Nuts" is on there gives it away. It's not bad, but $99 is a little too much. I think mine cost me about $40.

Yep. It plays Famicom (aka NES) games. Forget it. Go buy yourself a dreamcast then burn a copy of NesterDC for it. ;)

It also lists Urban Champion. I'm pretty sure that was a NES only title.

I see it now. I should have read the whole game list first.

I liked NES games anyway but its too bad its not a true arcade emulator.

I'll pass on this one....
