ataridave #1 Posted January 23, 2011 I got this cartridge, brand new in box, in the mail the other day and just plugged it into my Atari 800XL, and all I get is a blue screen. I've tried hitting reset, and the same screen comes up. Please help, I really want to play this game!!

ataridave #3 Posted January 23, 2011 (edited) Astro Chase is one of several titles that is not compatible with the XL and XE machines. Stink! OK, well, thank you for the information! I can always count on friendly info on these forums and I really appreciate it! It's a shame that ebay sellers don't post that information-because it wasn't on the box, like another copy I just looked at on Ebay. What other titles don't work, just so I know not to order them? So, if I got a regular old 800 or 400, would Atari XL or XE games work on either of those models?? Edited January 23, 2011 by dave4shmups

So, if I got a regular old 800 or 400, would Atari XL or XE games work on either of those models?? Most XE carts will actually work fine on an 800 with 48K, but only a handful will work on a 400 (two of those being Necromancer and Star Raiders II). How much should an 800, with all the hookups (except for controllers, which I already have) cost? And, do most have 48K?
mr.bill #9 Posted April 25, 2017 (edited) Just wanted to add this to an old thread. Maybe it's been settled or solved. But one of the exidy max flex games is Astro chase. If you don't know, max flex is a coin op arcade game that runs off an atari 600xl with a timer. Not sure why it works, but the cart is a silver labeled cart. Pretty sure it says first star on the label. It's not shaped like the Parker brothers one. I thought I tried the Parker brothers one in the max flex game. Maybe it's a 600xl thing. But if the cart need to be dumped I am willing to lend it out to make it happen. The other 3 carts for the max flex are (they all have silver labels) Boulder-dash Bristles Flip flop.
