Getiting Atari expansion module 1 to work?

So the second CV I bought came with an Atari expansion module doesn't work. Typically I get a black screen, or just a slightly scrambled red screen. I did do cleaning on it before hooking it all up, to no avail. Tried multiple games, no luck.

 

Any advice on getting this thing to work? I'm gonna try hooking up my other atari expansion module(one I know works) to see if it's possibly the port on CV 2.

And what hapebs when you plug the expansion into your 1st CV?

I've had one (Atari compatible plug-in) for a long time (30 years?), and occasionally when I pull it out to play, I have to plug it in several times before it works, usually cleaning the contacts more than once. Eventually, it has always worked; kind of temperamental, though. Last time was about 4 or 5 years ago.

Yep, I think that is going to happen over time. That is, unless you put some sort of corrosion preventer on it.
