nathanallan #2 Posted January 23, 2011 Wow! I love that dual screen monitor station, that was something WEIRD. I would love to build something like that.
+Ransom #3 Posted January 23, 2011 Nice page! I like the way you show the bare boards as well as the complete unit.
Sub(Function(:)) #4 Posted January 23, 2011 Wow! I love that dual screen monitor station, that was something WEIRD. I would love to build something like that. I saw a video lecture by Doug Crockford, he mentions that is one of Seymour Cray's early designs... way ahead of it's time.
classics #5 Posted January 23, 2011 Oh wow, I have some serious collection envy. That 800 with the pre-production ANTIC and CTIA is an amazing piece! Steve
Bryan #6 Posted January 23, 2011 Oh wow, I have some serious collection envy. That 800 with the pre-production ANTIC and CTIA is an amazing piece! Steve Not to mention the proto label from the early press photos. I had thought of having those reproduced. We order custom decals where I work, so I know a few good places to get quotes from. It's probably only worth it if I make 25+, though.
ClausB #7 Posted January 26, 2011 Thanks, all. 70's Computing reloaded. More content and rescaled pictures. The original pictures looked good on Safari but on IE7 many were too jaggy. I hope they are better now.

ClausB #9 Posted January 26, 2011 Hows your LEM project going claus...Or is that on the backburner (as the saying goes) It has been ignored, I'm afraid, by everyone involved. I'm coaching a VEX robot team now, and we're busy at least through February. This webpage thing I've been doing in little bits of spare time. I admit the calculator hobby has displaced the LEM. Sorry.

ClausB #13 Posted January 26, 2011 (edited) Thanks for the compliments! Claus...Shame you don't have a commodore calculator (or a HP one), I had both way back when After being required to work on a C64 at PDI, I want nothing to do with anything Commodore! I do have a few HPs now. Did you miss them on the site? Trouble is, they're expensive to buy today, just as they were back then. erazmus #15 Posted January 27, 2011 A little history of my involvement with 70's computers, including our beloved Ataris. Wow. Memories. Thanks for taking me down memory lane. Not Atari related, but the first programmable device I owned was a TI-57. Learning to program on that really set the groundwork for assembly-language programming on 'real' computers in later years.
