Need help with a problem with a Sega Master System

Recommended Posts

Picked up a Sega master system cheap at a flea market yesterday the thing was NASTY! I cleaned it up got it all hooked up and it powered on and I started playing Hang on the built in game. I don't have any carts for it. Anyway I tried both controllers and I can't get the motorcycle to move left. It's not the controllers unless both are broken. Could it be something wrong with the control port? Or what?

it could be a broken pin, you can also try using a 3 button sega genesis controller if you have one laying around

I have seen a few cases where the board is cracked just behind the controller ports, presumably from being stepped on. A few jumper wires solved it. Had another one that had a broken wire in the controller cable. Try using a Genesis controller on it or try using the SMS controls on an Atari 2600 or similar. It'll narrow it down.
