If the FAQ is correct that production of 400's ended in May of 1983, I must have one of the last ones made. As to my second one, the one made in Sunnyvale, there's no telling. And did anyone determine what the second hand-written skinny label means? I have an 800 with one of those as well.

Don't know much about mine, but its stock (except for a 48K upgrade I put in the other day) and I've had it since it was in a box 30 years ago...

With that original "16K RAM" sticker and similar markings to that effect on the label, it's possible yours had (still has maybe?) a CTIA rather than a GTIA. Have you checked to see? It would be an interesting anachronism if that's the case.

i doubt it, I'm fairly certain that's what the "G" before "16K" on the label is to indicate.

It is a CTIA, judging from the tests I could find on this forum. (POKE 623,64 does nothing, and the "GRAPHICS 9" loop in basic results in flashing blue-to-black) PS I may have missed it in the thread, but did anyone decipher this type of serial number? 421 1193 doesnt seem to correspond to any schemes I'm seeing.

42nd WEEK of '81, if the 3 digit code holds true for those "16K" serial numbers. The second sticker there indicates it went into the box on October 25, so that's about right. I thought they'd switched over to GTIA completely by then but who knows?

So jealous. Dying for a CTIA machine. PM if you're ever interested in unloading it.

According to this source, they phased out CTIA around Oct/Nov 1981, so this unit would be one of the last ones with the CTIA.

My emboss reads 082

Then 013962 on the official sticker.

Last is G 152 AV070285-16 2/17 L40 P on the sticker that almost peeledoff.

This is my original 400, and my dad said he bought it around 82 or so, which seems to fit.

I haven't fired it up in years as I use a 130 XE mostly with Maxflash carts I made with my faves (and APE when I want to try something else)
