Loose game PCB

Recommended Posts

I have a Telesys Cosmic Creeps cartridge I bought some time ago that has a wiggly PCB, to the extent that inserting the game into the VCS cartridge slot is next to impossible. Now, recently, I bought a Coleco Smurf cart for VCS that is the same. The PCB wiggles and I am reluctant to try inserting it into my VCS console to try it out.

Does anyone have suggestions short of disassembling the game carts? With the VCS carts, often the screws are hidden under the label, and I do not want to ruin the original label.

Thanks.

Applying heat from a hair dryer (or paint stripping heat gun on low) will soften the adhesive and allow you to slowly peel up the label without destroying it. Heating again when reapplying the label may make it stick back on completely, but if it doesn't, you can use a glue stick; they work quite well.

He is talking about the pcb not the label.

OK, so once I get the label loose and unscrew the cart casing, then just use a dot of hot glue to secure the PCB in place?

@TZ101: Hot glue, epoxy putty or epoxy from individual tubes or a dual syringe, whatever you have that you think is strong enough to hold it.
