Rybags
Depends where you are, and what extras come with it. US/Canada seems to have them cheaper than practically everywhere else, they don't show up much around here so we pay more. I'd guess US $25-$30 as a starting price for a machine in reasonable condition with power supply and RF lead and nothing else. That's not including postage if needed. Unused or even used ones with all the original boxes and packaged materials can often triple that. I put a bid or two on a machine the other day but quit once it hit $40. At near $20 postage and machine in unknown working order and looking a bit tatty in the photos I didn't think it was worth it.
Dionysius
Okay, i am a total newbie with this system. IS there a sort of standard screen for it, the guy was talking of an '11 inch screen' that comes with the atari. Can i play it on a regular tv? +orpheuswaking
What should come with an atari 800, to play/use it? Gr. Bare minimum 800XL, RF lead, Power Supply... With that you can play cartridge games... If you want to program you will need a storage device (Disk Drive or Tape Deck at least) For better enjoyment, upgrade to a Composite Monitor Cable (or sVideo, although you will need to modify the machine internally to make this work correctly) and build/buy a SIO2PC to allow you to use your PC as a storage device. Beyond that the sky is the limit.
