kyle #6 Posted February 2, 2011 (edited) Think I'm gonna pass on Turbo for now. I've been meaning to get LadyBug for a while now everyone seems to love it. Juno First looks great. K.O. Cruiser keeps catching my eye now too. What to do? WHAT TO DO? Edited February 2, 2011 by kyle

Cruiser keeps catching my eye now too. What to do? WHAT TO DO? Lady Bug is one of, if not the best, 2600 Homebrew games out there, IMO. You can't go wrong with that one. I just picked Turbo up a few weeks ago, and it's really good as well. The retro Coleco packaging alone makes it worth picking up. -B

WHAT TO DO? Can't go wrong with any of those three. It depends on what sort of game you like playing the most. Pick that one up first, then work your way down the list. littleman jack #14 Posted February 3, 2011 Is this a direct copy of Lady Bug for CV, or something different? The 2600 homebrew Lady Bug is written from scratch, but inspired by the goodness of the Colecovision version, from what I understand. And John Champeau, the programmer, did an amazing job. It is quite like the CV version, but not completely the same. It's a great port. He (Champeau) did a bunch of DOS versions of arcade titles back in the PC-DOS days, under the Champ Games banner, that were amazing. Hopefully, he'll continue to program for the 2600. Now I'm off to the store to read the reviews of Turbo.

As a matter of fact, I've reviewed Duck Attack! and K.O. Cruiser in my blog. Both are excellent. (All of my homebrew reviews are indexed here. Albert still hasn't added the newer ones to the store yet, however. )

sunsetflip84 #19 Posted February 3, 2011 Turbo looks like a lot of fun. Lady Bug, Skeleton + have been grabbing my attention though. Just pick them all up one by one. Problem solved!
user42 #20 Posted February 4, 2011 I'm thinking I'll release the original prototype ROM shortly, and then the full version (with the menu and "Enhanced" version of the game) after I've sold 'x' number of copies of the physical game. Perhaps when 200 copies of been sold. This was an expensive game to produce and I'd like to recoup my costs. ..Al So how about it....?

When I'm interested in getting a homebrew, I usually check to see if you've written a review on it first. They show that you put a lot of thought into them and are fair and honest not just giving every game 5 stars (I mean, joysticks) like I often see. tz101 #22 Posted February 4, 2011 Does Turbo even come close to the best VCS racer of all, Enduro? If I already have Enduro, is there really a good reason to get turbo?

Heavy26R #24 Posted February 4, 2011 (edited) Awesome! It's actually one of the games I play the most. I find it challenging and like the fast pace. My wife likes Enduro so I bought her Turbo. Turbo blows it out of the water in my opinion. I'd say it's similar with better colors, graphics, faster pace, responsive controls, better landscapes, just an overall huge improvement. When I first started playing I found it challenging which makes for longer play time. Edited February 4, 2011 by Heavy26R
