Odyssey^2 controller

I just got in a package with some parts including a controller for the O^2 which had detachable controllers. The thing is I was actually kinda trying to get the other kind which didn't use a DB 9...

 

Anyway, while I'm going to go ahead and try swapping parts to see if I can use it to fix the bad controller I was trying to replace... I was thinking that maybe I could also try just wiring a male DB 9 connector to a cable, hooking it to the main board, and hanging it out the system to hook this joystick to and just wondered if anyone knew where I could find some documentation that would help me do this. I was able to find a pinout for the DB9 connector but not for the connector for the internal joystick connection.
