DracIsBack #76 Posted February 17, 2011 Nice collection! if there was *EVER* a picture that showed perfectly why I love the Master System and consider it a 'treasure chest' to a North American gamer, that is it! Lots of those games were never even released in North America. It has a whole other side that many North American gamers don't know about.
+thegoldenband #77 Posted February 17, 2011 No Smurfs 2, no credibility. Seriously, great stuff!
zylon #78 Posted February 17, 2011 No Smurfs 2, no credibility. Seriously, great stuff! Hmmm, no Streets of Rage 2 or Mortal Kombat III visible but still larger collection than mine. Nice!

mbd30 #80 Posted February 17, 2011 Lots of those games were never even released in North America. Aren't many of these games just weaker ports of Genesis games? I know that the SMS was marketed as a budget alternative to the Genny in other countries.
the.golden.ax #81 Posted February 17, 2011 Often they have their own charm and differ a bit. Not just a watered down version. AX
BrianC #82 Posted February 17, 2011 (edited) Aren't many of these games just weaker ports of Genesis games? I know that the SMS was marketed as a budget alternative to the Genny in other countries. A couple games are, but not many (and a few of those like Altered Beast and Moonwalker were released in the US). Some stand on their own like Gain Ground and some games like the Sonics and Batman Returns are completely different from the Genesis versions. A couple games were either ports of GG games or ported to GG, though (IMO, SMS versions are better in most cases due to more screen space, though there are a couple exceptions). I heard Castle of Illusion may be better than the Genesis version (I have to play Castle of Illusion to be sure, but I love the SMS Land of Illusion, which has no Genesis version. CoI isn't really a port since it's completely different, though). Edited February 17, 2011 by BrianC
Markimus of K. #83 Posted February 20, 2011 ok, I caved and ordered the 3D glasses from the previous links as my original is broken as well. Now I'm off to find the adaptor for them...
Rockin' Kat #84 Posted February 20, 2011 ok, I caved and ordered the 3D glasses from the previous links as my original is broken as well. Now I'm off to find the adaptor for them... And I know how hard that can be... I spent the better part of a day wondering where the heck I put my busted 3D glasses fro the SMS only to discover I put them away in the Rubbermaid container that holds all my SMS controllers and spare power supplies. I somehow managed to put them out of my mind as I hadn't opened that container that long ago. I can say that the glasses from that link work just fine with the adapter. Greg2600 #85 Posted February 20, 2011 This is the glasses link, I just ordered them last week, waiting to receive. Even if the stock SEGA glasses I have weren't missing one side, I wouldn't be able to use them. They wouldn't fit on my head, and I have a regular sized head. Markimus of K. #86 Posted February 21, 2011 And just in case anyone is wondering, they charge $24.00 shipping to Canada which you don't find out until the order has been placed.
HatefulGravey #87 Posted February 21, 2011 And just in case anyone is wondering, they charge $24.00 shipping to Canada which you don't find out until the order has been placed. Just damn. Trying to collect out any where but the US must suck. I'm sure they're are some ups, but I see alot of downs talked about on this forum. Of coarse if I lived in Japan I would aready have my AES, so I guess I understand the pain a little.
Greg2600 #88 Posted February 23, 2011 I got the glasses today. First, they fit well, which obviously is an improvement over the SMS glasses. Maybe this isn't a good thing, but they have less tint in them, so you still see the screen well. The Sega glasses are very darkly tinted. Do they work? Short answer is yes; however, they don't work as accurately as the stock SEGA glasses. They don't seem to be 100% in sync in terms of the shuttering. So the result is not quite as smooth as the Sega glasses, that's the best I can describe it. The objects tend to be a little jumpy.
