Here it is, a Donkey Kong Jr Reprint box, I'm guessing they were out of Billingual Box, so they use those

 

That's the first time I saw one like this one, I know that Coleconut own a Venture Generic box but his box only contains text with the Venture logo ...

 

Anyway, I though I should share this find

 

 

EDIT: Something interesting is that the Price Tag is at 39.99$ and it also contains a date wich is 25/02/83

Yes, its a Canadian release from Coleco Montreal

 

The part# is also the same as the original DKjr release

Coleco Montreal made so many variations, its a gold mine for hardcore collectors

 

This DKjr remind me alot the Canadian release of Dam Busters .... ... well... except that Dam Busters get a completely different box than the US release .... but I mean the colors used are the same... red/black/white

Look like, but the box was really made that way .... Canadian Dam Buster box used the same ink colors

Actually, it look more like the way Atari2600 manuals by Coleco were printed

never seen those before..

i wonder why they packaged those that way..

perhaps the original boxes had been damaged, or they had more carts than boxes that month..

I see this box, and it looks to me like it was printed 2-color with altered artwork, not just missing colors. Is there a full color DKJ French box? Google comes up with nothing.

The box has been also made using the same cardboard as the original release

Perhaps those boxes were printed without color to cut costs?, we all know how absurdly high color ink costs.

I've been wrong before, and may be again here, but it appears to be intentional in the later years of the Colecovision to have these 2 color boxes. My *guess* would be that there are more of these out there from other games, although i only recall seeing this and Dam Busters off the top of my head. Maybe either overstock that was packaged as cheaply as possible to dump, or perhaps to honor a distribution commitment of some sort for Canada.
