slackerwithin #1 Posted February 10, 2011 Hello everyone, I have been having trouble building my jag collection because I really don't know what things are worth. I have an idea about rare titles and songbird stuff..but for carts like rayman, powerdrive rally, NBA jam, and alien vs predator..the prices vary so much. I checked jay smith and other guides, but no one seems to follow it. Same seems to hold true with Saturn games. It's frustrating. For example, what is a fair price for a power drive rally cart. Just cart. Or a complete alien vs predator. Thanks so much. I enjoy reading all your posts.
+save2600 #2 Posted February 10, 2011 When it comes to this sort of thing, you've really got to peruse and calculate your own averages. There's still quite a few sellers stocking these brand new in the shrink too. All things considered and keeping an eye on prices within the last year, I'd place these kinds of values on the games you listed: Rayman - $20-$25 loose, CIB upwards of $35-$50 Powerdrive Rally - pretty much the same as Rayman NBA Jam - $15 new if you can still find them for that price (was not long ago someone had a bunch). If not, $25-$30 CIB AvP - $20 loose, upwards of $50 CIB
The_Laird #3 Posted February 10, 2011 Depends where you are in the world too, you don't have a location set
slackerwithin #4 Posted February 10, 2011 (edited) Thanks that is a big help. I will change location. I'm from NYC. The prices seem so low according to the guides. I never find anything in the wild. My best find was a monster rancher 2 for ps1 for $5. . Not much of a find, for trade btw. Where do the price guides come up with these prices then..I think jay smith lists power drive for $8 Edited February 10, 2011 by slackerwithin
+save2600 #5 Posted February 10, 2011 ok. I will change location. I'm from NYC. The prices seem so low according to the guides. I never find anything in the wild. Where do the price guides come up with these prices then..I think jay smith lists power drive for $8 Price guides are virtually useless and outdated the day they're printed. There's so many variables: locales, currency exchanging, cosmetics, how badly someone with more dollars than sense wants something, blah, blah, blah. $8 for a Power Drive Rally? Don't think you'll ever find anyone willing to sell one so low. Unless of course, they're only going by a particular price guide. Most brick and mortar stores are going to use eBay as their "price guide" and for good reason. NOT good if they're only looking at outrageous buy it now prices going nowhere fast. But I say "good" because they're trying to maximize their return and eBay typically has the largest amount of participants creating their own market values. Not cheap running a friggin store today Hopefully, these kinds of guys are willing to listen to a decent offer and not brush people off because they "saw it selling for x amount online" though. ls650 #7 Posted February 10, 2011 I think your only really option is just to search completed auctions on eBay and GameGavel, and expect to pay accordingly. Prices vary a lot too. When there is a new major homebrew release for the Jaguar, it piques interest and prices rise for a couple of months, then fall again. These days, any cart that is well-liked and in demand is usually going to set you back about $20 to $30 US a pop. Carts that are uncommon or rare can cost you a lot more. The prices that SAVE2600 gives are accurate - if anything, I think his estimate for NBA JAM is too low by a good $10.

I was taking into consideration the fact that sumguy (I forget who it was), had NOS NBA Jams for $15 BIN. I know some here got in on that. He had a bunch of 'em. Of course, that was shortly after I bought mine CIB for $25 from someone here IIRC.
slackerwithin #9 Posted February 10, 2011 Thanks again. It seems to be the same for saturn. Anything good..die hard arcade, shinobi seems to be around $20-25. Many others of course much higher..ie guardian heros. E-bay is q double edge sword. Glad to find products there, but prices tend to stay high. I need to be more patient also. Thanks.
