Genesis games played through 32X are yellow

I just got my 32X working recently, but I noticed that when I play regular Genesis games through it they are yellow and washed out looking. I'm playing it through a Genesis 2 and the 32X games look just fine. My prediction is that I'm using an RF adapter instead of an AV cable. Anybody knows why this happens and what I can do about it? Or is this normal for the system?

I think you need to take a break from playing games and go pee; it sounds like your eyes are floating in it....

But seriously, when I pulled my 32X out of long time storage it appeared to be dead. i carefully cleaned the connectors and it came back to life with a weird purply glitching. I cleaned them again, but also cleaned the two wider metal pad contacts and then it was fine. I realize that you have no problem with 32x games, just mentioned it cause the symptom was similar and maybe the Genesis games may not use the same circuits as 32x and you may still have a dirty contact there somewhere. Over the weekend I will try to reproduce your problem with the combos of RF switch / direct connect and model 1 / model 2. Morgan

The Genesis sends an RGB(separate red, green, and blue) signal to the 32X. the 32X then overlays it's own video over the genesis' video. From the 32X you can get composite, or RGB out.

If your genesis games are purple, there may be a connection failure with green on the video cable going between the genesis and the 32x resulting in only red and blue getting through.

If your genesis games are yellow, there may be a connection failure with blue on the video cable going between the genesis and the 32x resulting in only red and green getting through.

If this were the case, there are three possible points of failure... there could be a cracked solder joint on the output connector of the Genesis, there could be a cracked solder joint on the input connector on the 32X, or your cable could be damaged. Or... there is a fourth possibility that you didn't push the connector in all the way...

If the connector cable itself is damaged, there are a couple on going multi-unit BINs on ebay for new replacements. One for use with the Genesis 1, and the other the Genesis 2.

[edit]It's also possible that one of the pins or sockets is dirty/corroded or something I suppose... but I've never run into that on video connections personally. ...or one of the pins could be bent...

Well that's a little more complicated than I expected. I don't think it's a connector problem so it's probably a problem on the inside like you suggested. I guess the easiest fix of all is to just take the 32X out when I want to play regular Genesis games. Of course I'll do some troubleshooting and see if I can figure out what the problem is.
