need some help

my game select switch goes 1,2,3,4,ect... when turned on. i replaced the switch. the belt (6 switch) seems fine but the bar that is visible through the small plastic holes look busted. what else should i look for?

when turned on the game goes through the game variations like the switch was stuck down. games like pitfall work fine. i thought it was the switch so i replaced it but still does the same thing.

 

after closer inspection of the belt (6 switch), i noticed the bar that you can see through the plastic holes is broke in thirds (like someone took something and poked through the bar) unlike the top one thats one bar and not broke.

 

what else could there be?
