Miss 2600 #1 Posted February 13, 2011 Looking at a few Activision manuals today reminded me that the game creators would have their photos and tips in the manual. They would also ask their game players to drop them a line. Did anyone write to any of the Activision game creators back in the day? If so, what did you write (i.e. your score, tips you picked up while playing, did you ask them questions?, etc.) and did you get a response and, if so, what was it (generic Activision letter, hand-written letter by the creator, etc?). It never occurred to me to write the game designers. It would have been cool to see what kind of response I would have gotten, though.
SpaceDice2010 #2 Posted February 13, 2011 I didn't even send in my high scores for the patches. That I regret.
high voltage #3 Posted February 13, 2011 (edited) Early 90s (Return to Zork had just been released on CD), I wrote to Activision UK, actually I filled out my registration card, and on the card it asked 'what would you like to see from Activision' (along those lines, I'm not 100% sure about the wording anymore), so I asked that I would like to see all Activison VCS carts remade for PC (didn't even know about emulation then), weeks later I got a reply saying that Activision just released Infocom titles on PC (The lost treasures of Infocom). That had me confused, what's Infocom got to do with VCS games, oh well, maybe Activision UK doesn't know about VCS titles from Activision, anyway I received a nice folder with some Activision flyers and stuff: Later we had Atari 2600 Action Pack for Windows from Activision, maybe I was indirect responsible for this :-) I like to think so.
