Atari SC1224 Monitor needs repair.

Recommended Posts

I just tried my SC1224 monitor and I'm no longer getting sound :(

When I looked closer the monitor connection to my atari st a little metal pin broke off and now I can't get sound. Any idea if it can be repaired? I'm not handy so I can't even attempt to soder

So the pin broke off the monitor cable?

I once repaired an old inbuilt EGA monitor cable, IIRC I cut a small sliver of solder wire, put it into the hole in the plug, then put the pin in and applied heat.

But in that case you're talking something the size/spacing of an Atari joystick cable (except male type of course).

Doing the same on an ST cable would be a whole lot trickier.

About the only other alternative would be to cut the whole plug off and solder an entire new one on.

Or possibly easier - just modify the ST itself, add an RCA jack that carries the sound, STE-style, and just run some cheap PC speakers.

yep, a pin broke off the monitor cable. It's a shame the monitor works great too.

It's a 1040stfm not 1040ste

Well I suppose you're faced with the choice - either try and solder a pin back in, which I doubt will work, or get another plug to replace the entire one you have now.

Or, just leave it be and add a seperate audio out to your ST... in all liklihood it would be the "easiest" of the options.
