NES sound output through an Atari 2600

Recommended Posts

really interesting... it sounds really good and I liked how the tones of the 2600 are really bright when staying in tune. I have no idea how he managed that. I mean, he explains but I couldn't understand much. All in all, awesome

I just listened to these and they are AMAZING! Better than the music from 95% of 2600 games. Really only rivaled by Mountain King and Pressure Cooker, perhaps a couple others.

It's emulated, albeit in hardware (FPGA). He used the NES frequency dividers instead of the Atari's, which is why it sounds in tune and such. He's not limited to the pitches the Atari normally can produce.
