Ready to buy a Homebrew, Any Suggestions ?

Recommended Posts

Which homebrew has the best game play of those offered by Atariage ?

Marble Craze looks good, but maybe Pac-Man Arcade ? If you could only buy one homebrew this year, which would it be ?

Marble Craze...

If you like Euchre... that's a damn fun game.. I play it all the time...

I also am pretty partial to Qb lately... very challenging game :-)

MARBLE CRAZE!

I'll say it as loudly and as often as anybody gives me the chance. This game will really f#%@ with your head when you see and HEAR it running on your old woodgrain. :D

Of course I would suggest Thrust. :)

 Chose any game from the XYPE catalog, you can go wrong there. SCSIcide and Warring Worms are IMO also very good homebrew games.

And you can find several reviews of Atari 2600 homebrew games in the internet e.g. on www.videogamecritic.net/2600.htm.

Thrust really is kick ass :-) I'm sorry I didn't metion it... I wish I had driving controllers so I could try out Thrust+

Jammed is OK.. but I prefer Qb as far as puzzle games go... More action :-) Sorry Thomas :-)

No problem, IMO they are in two different categories. :)

Excellent choice! :)

Make sure to have a good pair of paddles (and maybe a driving controller + footpedal).

Just a note that we will be adding new games at a reasonably brisk pace over the coming months. In addition to the few games we have listed as coming soon (Vault Assault, Crazy Valet, and Space Instigators), we will also should have Space Treat, Qb, and Gunfight in the next several weeks.

King Atari is right both times.

Marble Craze is the only homebrew I currently own. It's great.

I am going to buy QB as soon as AA gets it.

I feel I need to correct the original poster. My Pac-Man hack is a lot of fun, but calling it a homebrew is a disservice to the guys who have actually released finished homebrew games - the Xype guys, Bob Colbert, John Harvey, Joe Grand, the Ebivision guys, there are surprisingly a lot more where that come from. A Better Pac-Man/Pac-Man Arcade is a hack, and I came to it with the project 95% done as any hack 'author' does.

I like Space Instigators best of the homebrews AtariAge has up for sale right now. I happened upon a pair of paddles on half.com today so maybe within a week or two I'll be as much of a freak about Marble Craze as everyone else ;)

The 2600 games I currently play most are -

Marble Craze

A Better Pac-Man

Adventure

Pac-Invaders

Combat Rock

I'm sure Thrust + will sit atop my Atari with these when it gets here.

I already own Thrust. It’s hard(!) but really well done. I have the impressive Berzerk VE and Missile Command TB as well.

I put in an order for Jammed, Marble Craze, Skeleton, and Pac-Man Arcade today.

I’m thinking about picking up Space Instigators and Space Invaders Arcade soon.

I imagine that Space Treat, Qb, and Gunfight will be on my “to get” list when AA makes them available.

Thanks for the correction, but i very much apreciate your "hack" effort !

Improving Pac-Man is a very good thing. It is on my list.

Thanks ! :D

Hi there!

@Thomas

Just a little off-topic question...

If every bit is sacred, why have a signature? ;)

I always thought it was a typo and should read "Every bit is scared" :D

Greetings,

Manuel

I'd recommend Gunfight, Qb or Euchre. Even if you never play the carts, the label art is AMAZING ;)
