Problems with Mr. Do! on the Colecovision

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Having some trouble playing Mr. Do! on my Colecovision. When I insert the cart and power on, I get this message:

"Turn game off before inserting cartridge or expansion module".

All my other games work fine and the person I got this from had the same problem with a few copies of Mr. Do!.

On the cart it says: Mr. Do! by Universal For Colecovision & Adam Family Computer System.

Coul dbe a bad cartridge or ROM, but usually it just indicated a dirty cartridge. I'd personally check to make sure the Cartridge Board (the computer board inside) is there by looking in the bottom, and that it's in there squarly compared t other cartridges. (Had a Pitfall II once that the board got knocked silly loose and crooked in once-- no clue how!) If that checks out, I'd grab a Q-tip and some rubbing alcohol and clean the card-edge connector on both sides on the inside of the bottom of the cartridge, let it dry, then try again.

Thanks for the replies :)

I've cleaned the pins on the cartridge & on the Colecovision.

Also went ahead and opened up the Mr. Do! cart (which looks almost brand new -label and pins, etc..). Used a soft eraser on the pins and re-soldered/reflowed all the IC's on the game pcb. Still no go :/ It still acts as if there is no cart inserted.

I was initially thinking there was a bad batch of Mr. Do! carts out there...

Thanks again,

t

I have this same issue with my Burgertime! It looks new inside and out. I've cleaned the holy crap out of it, but still just get the same screen you've mentioned.

Luckily, I've found a working copy from a member right here on the 'ole AA.

Hey Thomas, how are you :)

I had a Time Pilot with the same problem and I suspect its a dead cart. Colecovisions are notorious for being flaky like this, one of the reasons I got rid of mine.

If anyone can fix a problem though, its you Thomas :D

Hey Jeremy! Thanks for the reply :)

I was hoping with cleaning the pins and reflowing the solder on the game cart IC's would help...but I agree probably a dead cart (as all my other carts work fine).

Was looking foward to playing it lol...oh well ;)

That happened to me as well with my pitfall II cart. Luckily I have the SD Cart and I downloaded the Pitfall II and was able to play it.
