  1. 1. Which model would you prefer??

    • Gameking 1 (gm218)
    • Gameking 2 (gm219)
    • Gameking 3 (gm220)
    • none of the above.

Hi. I'm considering importing a batch or two of Gamekings. I was wondering if anyone around here would be interested in buying one, and if so, what model?

EVERYTHING BRAND NEW.

Gameking I (gm-218) would be the cheapest. about $30 US. Would come with a random 4in1 cart (+3 built-in games).

Gameking II (gm-219) backlit. About $30-35 US. Would (quite possibly) come with a random 4in1 cart (+3 built-in games)

Gameking III (gm-220) Backlit and full color About $45 US. Comes with built-in game (a space shooter).

Each model has various pros and cons. The GK1 is the most strait-forward (nice Nintendo style D-pad too). The GK2 is backlit. The GK3 is quite rare outside of asia, and is full color and backwards compatible. Unique design as well.

Could also import a large batch of games, at a later date.

Any interest folks??? If so Let me know which model is the most appealing to you.

here's pics of the GK1(gm218), GK2(GM219), and GK3(GM220). Colors will be completely random. But once they arrive, we can do a "first come first served" deal, regarding color.

Here's some screen caps. The GK1 and GK2 have the exact same screen. The only difference is the backlight on the GK2. The GK2 comes with a permanent background in front of the LCD which is incredibly annoying (usually it's a landscape). It can be easily removed, as I have done here, which allows the machine to function quite well. The GK3 is fully compatible with ALL games made for the GK 1 and 2. They are automatically colorized, as you can see. Sometimes this compliments game-play, sometimes not :)

This is a shot of the GK's Silver surfer clone Surf Escelon/Dracula Zone. As you can see, its a bit easier on the eyes than the cap of Dino Adventure, shown above. Its all completely arbitrary.

The GK3 has slightly better resolution than the previous models, of roughly 1 1/2x. It is designed to play a line of "graphically enhanced" games. These are not very easy to find, but you can get a taste, below with the game "Galaxy Crisis", the GK3's built-in space shooter. Not a bad game either.

* Please note the screen caps for the GK3, above are of the GM-221, not the GM-220. Both units have the same screen and features. I'll be ordering the GM-220. Which just for the sake of driving the point home, appears again below, this time in lovely silver.

Well, there was no voting option for NO, so I will just post it.

NO

They almost look good enough but the overall resolution just seems a little too weak for a handheld. If it was closer to an original gameboy I would probably bite, but it's not. Hope that helps :)

Can you give us an idea of cost for these things?

What about games other than what it comes with? Where can you buy them and how much?

The only one I may have interest in is the GameKing III.

Check out Ashens on youtube for a hillarious and in depth review of these things...Classic! :D

I love his droll, monotone voice plowing through the poorly translated descriptions. :)

The GK's obvious weaknesses is its own very shady-asian nature. I tend to like the bad translations, since they're so amusing, they're never boring to read :)

Minimalist graphics aside, the unit's strength rests with the gameplay. Many of the games are surprisingly fun.

Ashens, had the original lot of 17 games available for review, in fact the total library of games is closer to 70, with ports of most classic games from the 8-bit era. Contra, double Dragon, super mario, mega man, spy hunter, street fighter, Ikari Warriors, batman, even darkwingduck.

Nice idea!

I already have some GameKing games but have any system to play them!

So I vote for a GameKing 3 :)

What about shipping cost to France, please?

OK thanks! You know I am a stupid man with games and no system to play them! It is the same case with games for Odyssey and for Cassette Vision! ;)

Where are you importing from? I've been trying to find a place to buy one of these for years now. I had thought they had discontinued this in favor of that NES on a chip Handy Game.

Hello there! It might be too late to get one from you. If it is; where did you get these? I've been looking all over the internet but I can't find any! If you could direct me to where I can buy a Gameking I that'd be totally awesome!

It's only been 4 years, so I'm sure your good to still be in for 1 :rolling:

Seriously though there are a couple on ebay right now you just need to do some searching. Be sure to check worldwide cuz finding 1 in the usa is close to as likely as this above guy still placing his order 4 years later. They pop up every month or so usually ;)

Heh heh; well I can say I am wayyyy more excited about getting a Gameking than I am about the Coleco Chameleon. The graphics on the GKIII are slightly reminiscent of VFT displays on Coleco tabletops and the like.
