I fixed my Track and Field controller!

Recommended Posts

My Jump/Throw button would not work most of the time. I never really used it anyway, but I want it working for another project. I finally opened it up and one connector for the center button was off. It is fairly loose, I assume normal shaking around would cause it to slip off. It is actually a nice piece of hardware with real reed switches. You can see the connector off in the first pic.

My family and I were watching some old Christmas home movies recently that were captured with the good ol' shoulder mount RCA Camcorder back in the 80's. One segment, taken during Christmas '86 at my grandparents' house, features my parents and aunts and uncles drunkenly singing Rolling Stones tunes into the camera. I had a laugh when that scene came on and I heard this intermittent but very noticeable rumbling sound in the background noise of the video. I'm certain it was my brother, me, and our cousins upstairs in the room directly above where the film was being taken beating the hell out of that Track and Field controller, which I recall we got for Christmas that year.

T&F is actually a really cool game, I like it better than Decathlon.
