EVIL NOD #1 Posted March 16, 2011 (edited) so i am conecting my jaguar to its own screen like the playstation one had.i am useing one of the ps1 screens as it takes R/G/B input.so i have wired the RGB lines and h/sync to the screen i do get a realy good pic but it is just scroling up all the time.compersite work fine but RGB is just so much better. any idears Edited March 16, 2011 by EVIL NOD
Tyrant #2 Posted March 16, 2011 Afaik RGB also needs you to connect composite up so as to get the sync pulses from that.

Also if this is SCART or just 3 RGB cables? If the TV is older, possibly also if you are just using the separate RGB cables, check to see if the tv has a Vertical Sync adjust knob, turn this slowly (should go both ways), one way will make the image scroll faster up the screen, the otherway slower, adjust it slowly to slow the scrolling and when you get to the right level the TV should latch to the image and it should stay still. If the TV doesn't have such a knob (they are hidden away, sometimes with the tuning, sometimes on the back of the set!), and it is scart, check inside the scart plug that there are no broken off wires. IIRC it is only Horizontal Sync that has its own wire, but been a while since I looked at the pin out. I am pretty sure that the TV should be able to get sync from the rgb without needing composite connected. Good luck, hope its something simple.
EVIL NOD #4 Posted March 16, 2011 thanks people but i am not pluging it in to a tv so do not have a Vertical Sync adjust knob on the screen i am useing one of these i no it can be done as Ben Heckendorn has done it but it has me stumped
Game-Tech.US #5 Posted March 16, 2011 Does the screen require composite sync (h+v) instead of just hsync? Comp sync is available on the 24 pin connector on the back of the console, pin 5B according to gamesx.
Zerosquare #6 Posted March 16, 2011 I am pretty sure that the TV should be able to get sync from the rgb without needing composite connected. No it won't. The RGB signals don't have an embedded sync pulse, so you need to wire the composite signal as well to give the TV a reference sync signal.

On the Jaguar, it's better to use the composite video output, since it is buffer and can drive a 75 ohm input directly ; the composite sync pin can't.

EVIL NOD #9 Posted March 17, 2011 FIXED IT turns out you do not need to have the composite wire wired up just wired the RGB and the RGB audio to the screen and then the V sync from the jaguar to the sync on the screen(had the h sync from the jaguar wired to the screen before) and bingo it worked. Zerosquare #10 Posted March 17, 2011 The vertical sync output on the Jaguar actually is a composite sync output (in fact, there's a bit in the chipset you can set to choose either vertical or composite sync, but the video hardware won't work if it's set for vertical sync, so it's always set for composite sync).
