Sony Playstation Analog Joystick for trade

Recommended Posts

WikiPedea entry

I just picked one of these up, loose, no box. Is there any interest in them? Not much history on eBay, and I personally have never seen one. It tested out OK on my PS2, but it is mainly for PS1 I believe. Personally, I'm not a Sony guy, and would prefer to trade it for Atari or Vectrex stuff, but I might sell it outright.

Can anyone give me a ballpark value?

I can attach a picture later tonight or tomorrow.

That is an excellent controller!

It's also limited *ENTIRELY* to PS1 games.

It's also huge - space-consuming.

It's huge size/weight makes it a bitch to pack for shipping.

It makes shipping expensive.

But that stuff won't matter to someone who really wants one. I have 2. I have seen these go for $15 for a nice one, I have seen them go for $50 for a piece-of-crap one.

Here's on on Ebay for $130 - HA HA HA

eBay Auction -- Item Number: 1905085608781?ff3=2&pub=5574883395&toolid=10001&campid=5336500554&customid=&item=190508560878&mpt=[CACHEBUSTER]

Here's another on Ebay for $50

eBay Auction -- Item Number: 1604777811121?ff3=2&pub=5574883395&toolid=10001&campid=5336500554&customid=&item=160477781112&mpt=[CACHEBUSTER]

Just pick a price and run with it, and keep discounting until it sells, or accept offers. I should think it's closer to $50.

I have 2 of these, and I love 'em. I'm not a "Sony guy" per se; I'm an "everything" guy and these are really good on several PS1 games, and it's a damn shame they didn't continue support.

Thanks for the info. It is quite large. I attached a picture of it and it's label. (I used a camera I got at the same goodwill that day, double score!)

I did get it working on the PS2 with the PS2 Atari Anthology after configuring controls. I could not get BattleZone to work in tank mode with 2 sticks. I wonder if it can be re-wired as a PS2 controller...

You mean to tell us that you DID get it working on PS2 Atari Anthology, in ANALOG mode? Wow, that would be a surprise! In "digital" mode, it's pretty worthless - it's just a long-throw digital controller, which a standard D-pad does much better, btw.

Maybe it could be rewired for PS2 in theory, but it would probably be extremely complicated. Anything's possible with some of these skilled hardware-guru-modders, but I've never heard of it being done.

Get "Ace Combat 2," "Ace Combat 3," "Descent" or "Descent Maximum" (these are all PS1 games) and you will really see that controller shine. It's really fun on the Ace Combat games.

I've got 2 of those! Yeah, I remember analog mode working on a lot of digital-only games. Treasures of the Deep was a blast to play with it. IIRC, 1 stick controlled forward/reverse/straf and the other controlled direction of your sub. The info on the game case doesn't say anything about stick support but it felt like it was designed with it in mind.

Also remember Assault on Namco Museum (vol. 4 I think ?) was another fun one to play with it. Feels just like the arcade!

I'm not sure which mode it was in, probably digital. I only tired a couple games, then hooked up a dual shock and played BattleZone for a while... Lost focus on testing it... LOOK A SQUIRRELL!
