MaxSpeed #1 Posted December 18, 2002 I got the call, the package has arrived. I speed home and open up the cartridge and plug it in. My first Atari Cart from the 21st century. I set up the paddels and begin to learn how to use them in a entire new way. At first I can not control the marble at all, slowly I can get it to roll in each direction, slowly my skills biuld as I navigate the great maps. Yes, I am still challenged at level one, and I have not tried the two player, and I have not tried it where you can roll off the maze, and I have not figured out the power ups and so much more to discover. I know I will have many hours, days, weeks, of game play in this great cart. Great Game !
StanJr #2 Posted December 18, 2002 I told you so. Its AMAZING! Not surprised Stan
Rob Mitchell #3 Posted December 18, 2002 Get yourself a cheap rectangular plastic box .. and mount the paddles: one on the right side and the other on the front side (with velcro straps) and you can play much better! I've made it to the golf and pinball levels. Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA
MaxSpeed #4 Posted December 18, 2002 Get yourself a cheap rectangular plastic box .. and mount the paddles: one on the right side and the other on the front side (with velcro straps) and you can play much better! I've made it to the golf and pinball levels. Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA Thanks for the tip ! I can see clearly how that would help ! Maybe I will use a cigar box and velcro tape. Marble Carze and the smell of a Cohiba ! Perfect !
oesii #5 Posted December 18, 2002 Thanks for the tip ! I can see clearly how that would help ! Maybe I will use a cigar box and velcro tape. Marble Carze and the smell of a Cohiba ! Perfect ! lol, Marble Craze does call for some Cubans, my friend brought me a box of Cohiba Lanceros from Cuba by way of Panama that I could use for this

MaxSpeed #8 Posted December 19, 2002 Wow, doing level 5 tonight, tried level 15 and could not cope - started to wet pants. Now I have changed, back to level 5, I CAN do this..............sometimes. Need 2nd set of paddels, must try a two person game soon.
StanJr #9 Posted December 19, 2002 Two player is a MUST! Its an insane challenge! Do you go for time or for points? Can you keep an eye on your opponent's progress and still steer your ball? Can you get used to looking at the right side of the screen? Big Player and I went head to head at Cinci on Marble Craze and it was INSANE! I think he beat me twice! Greatest Homebrew ever? Hmmmm..... Two player Stan
Snider-man #10 Posted December 19, 2002 I see that - above - folks were discussing the box/side knob layout. Here ya go: See? Marble Craze plays like one of THESE things. Movin' on to the next thread...
NE146 #11 Posted December 19, 2002 I have that! Mine was called "Labyrinth".. but I'm sure it's just one of many. Speaking of Marble Craze.. ok ok ok .. I've heard enough talk about it. I will break out the good old Cuttle Cart and give it a run tonight and put Stan's word to the test!
Rob Mitchell #12 Posted December 19, 2002 I see that - above - folks were discussing the box/side knob layout. Here ya go: Right! Get some velcro straps and stick the vertical paddle on the right side of a box .. and the horizontal paddle on the front of the same box .. and you will go much further in Marble Craze than Stan Jr! Cupcakus #13 Posted December 19, 2002 To my knowlege there is no publically available ROM image for it yet... But if all goes to plan there will be soon :-) and it is scheduled to coincide with the release of my cart. We'll see
Cupcakus #14 Posted December 19, 2002 I have that! Mine was called "Labyrinth".. but I'm sure it's just one of many. Speaking of Marble Craze.. ok ok ok .. I've heard enough talk about it. I will break out the good old Cuttle Cart and give it a run tonight and put Stan's word to the test! I have "Travel" Labyrinth :-) it's about 1ft square and it's black... and it uses those little tiny metal bearings you used to find in all of those types of "Travel" games back in the 80's. I could do that one :-) I never quite mastered the real wooden Labyrinth though... that still sits in my closet unbeaten for over 20 years.
Inky #15 Posted December 19, 2002 Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Marble Craze make a great Christmas gift?
StanJr #16 Posted December 19, 2002 HEY! I can get pretty far! I can get to level 9 and I don't need no stinking box! To tell you the truth, the box would probably screw me up, having never played the "Labyrinth" game it is based on. I'll stick to my flat paddles thank you! Resistant to change Stan
Big Player #17 Posted December 24, 2002 Arrgg, talking about Marble Craze while I was gone. I've made it to the 13th level (Great games?) holding the paddles flat. I use slight but contant pressure to keep the paddles in place. I've never really used one of those marble boxes--I've only seen them at someone's house where they don't let kids touch any of the cool stuff--so I don't think making a box to hold the paddles would help me. But whatever works for you. Sad to say the only time I've played Marble Craze head-to-head was against Stan at the Cinciclassic. Marble Craze is a must own. MaxSpeed #18 Posted December 24, 2002 This game has become a daily play for me, I remember seeing those box contraptions with the metal bearing and so having one controller on top and one to the left has been close enough for me to work with. One of the great things about the game is when you get confident is when you mess up, quite a good lesson, particularly for surgeons ! This is such a good game and having this ported to an Xbox or PS2 would add nothing to the play at all. This is the 2600 at its best !
SS #19 Posted December 25, 2002 This is the 2600 at its best ! Agreed! And, as I just found out, it sure works better with a clean set of paddles!!!
