Whats you dos preference

Like it says on the tin.....what is your DOS preference (or poison)

 

For me it's got to be Menu type dos's (a'la Atari dos 2x/mydos and the like) i had used spartados/dosxl and similar but they never really grew on me, they sort of reminded me why i bought an atari and not a pc (even though i sort of know my way round pc/ms dos)

 

Dos xe was sort of interesting though, a sort of hybrid dos as it combined menu type commands with cli type commands, but i don't remember using it much

Like Carmel I prefer old DOS 2.5.

 

In the past I never used very much command line DOSes (in 1986 I started buying Amigas with GUI and switched to PC when W95 came out so I skipped MS-DOS) and now I don't need an advanced DOS for my basic needs.

I use MyPicoDOS for games. Hias has some nice utilities for it too. DOS 2.5 is good enough for everything else.

I prefer disk-loaded command line DOSes..

Although most of the time I use SpartaDOS X 4.43 RC1, sometimes I'll drop into SpartaDOS X 4.19 for the nostalgia factor. SpartaDOS X 4.22 is another favourite... but I don't like it as much a SpartaDOS X 4.42. So - as you can see - it's hard to pick a favourite DOS.

my favorite command line interpreter is BASH... but since it isnt available for the A8, i used SpartaDos... 3.2 roolz...
