fibrewire #4 Posted March 27, 2011 Oh man! Did you guys ever save me - I was about to buy it! Whew! *middle finger* :) :) EDIT: That is pretty ridiculous. I bet he shows up at the top of the 'Atari 800' List.
doctor_x #5 Posted March 27, 2011 pretty crazy - but i'd love to have it... not for $999 or more tho.
jaybird3rd #6 Posted March 27, 2011 Wow ... I used to have one of those carts. I got it with an Atari 800 that I bought in the early 90s.
qix_maniac #7 Posted March 27, 2011 (edited) Seller took $500 off now for only $499 any takers? I'd value cart at $60 maybe $100 with manual max. Edited March 27, 2011 by qix_maniac
OldAtarian #8 Posted March 27, 2011 (edited) Atarimania shows it as a 10, but who needs it if the service it connects to no longer exists? It's like buying a Compuserve or DJIS starter pack. Edited March 27, 2011 by OldAtarian
doctor_x #9 Posted March 27, 2011 well... to me its sort of like an atari 830, an mpp1030c, an apple cat, any number of telecom programs from my youth that will NEVER be found today, Games Computers Play literature (ROMS are available thankfully), and the GameLine modem.... All are pretty much worthless - but I have a huge fetish for all things 8-bit (and 80's) communications related. I could see paying $100 maybe as I have rarely seen these available - but $499 is still nuts.
Frankie #10 Posted March 27, 2011 Lots of cartridges listed today for 8-bit but this one caught my eye because of the price! Pronto on Ebay: eBay Auction -- Item Number: 150582951350 If this sells at any decent price I'm going home to my Dads. He has like 4 of these old carts in the closet! OldAtarian #11 Posted March 28, 2011 (edited) He describes in the listing as a game. I don't think he realizes it's an app that has no usefulness anymore. He may as well be selling a brick for all the good it does. An app that does not function any longer reduces the value as far as I'm concerned regardless of how rare it is because it has no useful purpose other than to fill a hole in your cart collection. At least a rarity 10 game can be played giving it more value, this cart does nothing. It's like collecting all the early AOL floppies and CD's that you can't connect with anymore. They're just fancy coasters with no server to connect to. Edited March 28, 2011 by OldAtarian

They're just fancy coasters with no server to connect to. majority of things collected are not really needed, and dont server a real purpose other then our want to collect things... no in its current form it is rather useless, but it has a value to collectors as its a very rare cart, it wasnt sold in the retail shops many if all the games and utilities were, it was available at banks. with this being said, you also have the factors of number of customers, and number of them who use an atari, and how many of them would do online banking. so with that being said, its value isnt in its game play or nostalgia of playing 'back in the day', its value is in its rarity... sloopy. OldAtarian #13 Posted March 28, 2011 Someone offered $200 and he took it. Still seems high for a program with no useful purpose other than window dressing.
qix_maniac #14 Posted March 28, 2011 I paid $40 for mine but I did not get any doc/manual.
+orpheuswaking #15 Posted March 28, 2011 Well $200 is way more understandable than $999.
