CadaverKev #1 Posted March 28, 2011 Hello! Found you guys (AtariAge) about a week ago, and I have to say, this is one cool hang! I was very blessed with having the privilege of growing up during the height of the 2600's reign. Only one of my schoolmates was lucky enough to acquire one, but he was cool enough to invite some of us over and take a turn at defeating sinister aliens, or each other, in the hulls of our digital tanks. We couldn't imagine how technology could get any better than this (we said that about Pong too) ! All we needed was that 2600,h2O, and a steady supply of Pop-Tarts, and we were set to rule the rest of the 70's. (sigh) Life was great then. It was not until 1980 when my parents were able to scrape up some spare cash, and totally surprise me walking in one birthday evening with a four switch Woody! I was really blown away! Practically speechless, sitting there in our dated, paneled living-room, with everything I ever wanted at the time right in front of me. And now I'm 45... what a bitch! But I still love my Atari and my frigin' Pop-Tarts dammit! Actually, probably due to the onset of a "midlife crisis", I've dug out my old systems and recently gone fishing on eBay, to satisfy those classic wants. Beats spending money, I don't have, on a sports car. And it keeps the wife happy... I hope. I'm rambling. Here's some pics of my stuff, and things acquired recently. Nice chatting ! Yellow355F1 #2 Posted March 28, 2011 (edited) Wholly Molly nice collection!!! Im new here my self, and already learned a TON. That is quite a game list, I once had a sizable collection. But, I messed up dearly, and sold it all. Just won a light six switcher on ebay, and struggling to rebuild my collection. I can say the prices are quite a bit more than when I had my 2600 17 years ago even on the common games. Edited March 28, 2011 by Yellow355F1

HatefulGravey #6 Posted March 28, 2011 Welcome CadaverKev and Yellow355F1. You'll find this place is pretty freaking great and amazingly addictive. If you are looking to expand your collections check out marketplace. There are collectors there sell doubles and rare items with the knowledge to know what they are selling works right. The prices can't be beat either. Enjoy your rebirth to Atari. I was not lucky enough to grow up in the Atari time frame, but I was lucky enough to be exposed to it young and grow up with a love for it.

tz101 #8 Posted March 28, 2011 Welcome. Your situation is just like mine. I am 45 and got my first Tele Games 4-switcher in 1980, only for Christmas. Man, those were the days. Your collection looks nice. Are any of those your original 1980 system or game carts? I still have my 1980 Tele Games console, but broke it trying a repair and have many other VCS consoles to play on now.
+wood_jl #9 Posted March 28, 2011 One of the most amazing things about AtariAge is - that I didn't discover it before I did. I think it's been here since 2001 (or something). Where's the 10-year celebration?
tz101 #10 Posted March 29, 2011 It existed prior to 2001 under a different name.
CadaverKev #11 Posted March 29, 2011 Welcome. If I remember correctly, my original 4 switcher died some time after the 7800 was still available in stores. Then I purchased the 7800 that's depicted in this posting. About half the games I have were originally purchased by, or for me many moons ago. I actually still have manuals for everything except the "Snoopy..", "Cosmic Commuter" and "Frankenstein's Monster"(not depicted) carts . The second 2600 console in the pic, I picked up off eBay with that nifty Game Center storage box there. Had to have that! I cleaned that console up, and am selling to a friend's wife to pay for the "Vader" model I snagged off eBay today. Next stop, "Heavy Sixer" when finances permit. I think I may have a "problem".
