ATARI7800fan #1 Posted March 31, 2011 (edited) I have recently started looking into the DS and GBA advance and it seems like these two combined have every platformer that was good in the 90's. The GBA has everything from crash and spyro to sonic. Even some platformers that were on both system seem to do better on the GBA like Spyro the eternal night compared to the DS version(I am a spyro fan one of my favorite games on the PS2). Plus New super mario bros on the DS. What do you guys think, do you think DS plus GBA equals platforming heaven for handhelds. ATARI7800fan #3 Posted March 31, 2011 I also find it interesting that the company that did Spyro eternal darkness on the GBA also did the DS version of Eragon which got positive reviews unlike the consoles version both were made by Griptonite Games. Rex Dart #4 Posted March 31, 2011 Well, a DS lite with a flashcart is pretty rad. Some of the new flashcarts are making the XL comparable in terms of compatibility, too.
Video #5 Posted March 31, 2011 GBA is definitely awesome. I can tolerate some of the stuff on the DS when it is done right, rather than shoehorned into using one of the DS's "features" that the game doesn't need or simply doesn't work with. Some of the stuff that drives me nuts though, it's not the stuff that is one it (spyro is indeed awesome for GBA) bt what is missing (GBA or DS would have been perfect for say, lemmings, Populous, sim city, or Super Smash Bros, I know Sony now owns lemmings but still)
Petran79 #6 Posted March 31, 2011 Regarding the gba I was dissapointed with the gba sequel of jazz jackrabbit, since the pc original was much better. But it came too late, after the cancelled 3d sequel and when the fanbase was reduced a lot. I was never really into platformers, fighters or space shooters for handhelds. Games there should be more static, involving strategy, like rpg and puzzle games. What is the use of being frustrated due to the lousy controls and screen, when you can excel and perform the same moves much easier on a big screen and a normal joystick/keyboard?
