Devin #1 Posted April 1, 2011 Hey all, I'm putting together a little Pong tournament for my computer science students. They will participate to get extra credit - with the winner getting nice credit prize. Anyway, I want to add some background music - mainly for ambiance - not loud enough to drown out the beeps from the old machine. So, what songs would be best? I'm doing it relating to computer history. I've chosen some late 70's songs such as: B52's - Rock Lobster (1979).mp3 Bee Gees - Stayin' Alive (1977).mp3 Bee Gees - You Should Be Dancing (1976).mp3 Heart - Baracuda (1977).mp3 KC and The Sunshine Band - Thats The Way (1975).mp3 KISS - Rock And Roll All Nite (1975).mp3 Lipps Inc. - Funky Town (1980).mp3 Rose Royce - Car Wash (1976).mp3 The Trammps - Disco Inferno (1976).mp3 Walter Murphy & The Big Apple Band - A Fifth Of Beethovan (1976).mp3 Wild Cherry - Play That Funky Music (1976).mp3 Aerosmith - Walk This Way (1975).mp3 Should I remove any of these? Add others?
Legend #2 Posted April 1, 2011 (edited) Be the ball - Slash's Snakepit Pinball Wizard - The Who (70's) Balls to the wall - Except Big Balls - AC/DC Yellow Pearl/theme from top of the pops - Phil Lynott (for some reason always makes me think of pac-man and pong) (70's ish) Anything that has to do with balls or bouncing I think would also be appropriate. You can never go wrong with Thin Lizzy, T-Rex, or Cheap Trick for any event with 70's music. Pac-man fever also might be fun. Also anything you hear at a hockey game like crazy train or crush 'em might be fun. I ran - Flock of seagulls for 70's it's even on the activision anthology for pc. Rex Dart #5 Posted April 4, 2011 No electronica? C'mon, play some Daft Punk or something, not just "Top Hits of Yesteryear" off the damn radio.
Devin #6 Posted April 4, 2011 (edited) Pac-man fever also might be fun. I'm all for pac-man fever I have to admit, that song makes me cringe! Blondie - One Way or Another Supertramp - The Logical Song Little River Band - Reminiscing Jeff Lynn - Video The Blondie one will probably fit well! I completely forgot about that one. VectorGamer #7 Posted April 5, 2011 Remove 'em all. Pong was released in '72 so therefore I'm feelin' a best of 1972 soundtrack.
TwinChargers #8 Posted April 5, 2011 For whatever reason, "Eye of the Tiger" came to mind almost instantly and I was expecting someone else to have said it.
Devin #9 Posted April 5, 2011 The console I am using is a 76 model, so anything on the radio then would work.
