Malagai eprom chip not working. Any suggestions?

Recommended Posts

I just purchased an untested Malagai eprom chip, and I am not having any luck getting it to work.

A couple of years back, I scored a homemade cartridge with an eprom socket which works great with the space invaders eprom it came with. Upon trying the Malagai chip, I am getting solid and/or vertical color bars on my screen. Is there anything I can do here? I have attached a photo of the eprom cart to show what I am talking about:

Any help would be appreciated!

Post a picture of the Malagai chip, unless the one in the picture is it.

That's what I thought, that is not an EPROM, it's a mask ROM and the enable line is inverted. ;)

It looks exactly like the space invaders chip I have and it fits in just the same.

So how can I use this???

You need to desolder a mask ROM from a 4K game and replace it with this one. It must be a 4K game, 2K games are missing an entire trace on the connector. :!:
