Where to buy STe SIMMs in 2011?

Recommended Posts

Last week, I did a search and I found a thread that people (MIMO, etc) had posted in. In it, there was a link to some place selling them for about $1.00 each. I bumped the thread - or at least I thought I did, and now I can't find the thread. I have searched for about an hour now, trying all kinds of search criteria, and I don't know what I used to find it before. I'm a dumbass for not adding it to my bookmark right then.

At any rate, I see stuff like "any 30 pin SIMM." I haven't seen or touched 30-pin SIMMs in years and years, since the days when the PC used it. I know there were/are EDO/parity/etc considerations, 150ns, 80ns, etc... I don't remember all the details.

But which do the STe take, and where to find, cheap? I suppose once you know exactly what you're looking for, Ebay of course.

I wish I could find the thread that had the link to buy them. It was old, but the link appeared to still work. It really sucks that I didn't bump the thread, because it was cheap, and they were new (I think).

I am unfamiliar with the STe, as this is my first and I've only had it a few days.

SYSINFO reports that there are 512k x4 in the machine, but somehow that only adds up to 1MB.

I haven't looked in the machine yet, I was hoping to wait to get the 4MB so I don't take it apart repeatedly.

THanks for any info! I wonder if someone can remember that old thread I thought I had bumped. I suppose I'll try again later, but I'm kinda frustrated and will have to come back to it.

:)

I have four somewhere that came out of a STe... I'll trade something for them...

Hey orpheus, thanks. But I think the trouble is, finding something to trade for! It's the classic Xmax/Bday present conundrum - "What to get the guy who has everything?????"

I found the link I was looking for, after searching for a couple of hours. Strange thing is, I don't think it's from the same thread that I found it in the first time. Ever not be able to find a thread you found previously? Frustrating!!!

But it's this link....

So they're not $1.00 each as my conveniently-forgetful memory puts it.

I'm wondering if these on Ebay could possibly be suitable....

Of course, the ones I can be certain work are yours! How about a package deal, with a "4160STe" badge, eh? :)

I'm trying to think what I have to trade. Unfortunately, about the only thing I have more of than you are these.....

I got mine from Local computer shop for $1 each, 30pin simms. They were selling them as "Key chains". I think they still have them.
