mike99mccarthy
Hey Guys!! I've been lurking Atari age since around 2000 or 2001.... I was never into really posting on Any forums for years. I registered here in 2007 to sell a couple items in the marketplace, but now my love for atari consoles has really grown. I sold off most of my massive collection between 07-09, but now I have a "consolidated" collection I am alot happier with. I just kept all the stuff I really play. Here is my tv stand Here we have a modded nes with stereo sound, pink LED and the fm resistor mod. I use a retrozone powerpak to play games, although I do collect NES black box stuff. Also you can see my 5200(which I have yet to get working) and my 7800 on top. My cool BTTF poster and some 2600 manuals framed. The beautiful model is my daughter Atari McCarthy Here are a few Arcade games: Atari Area 51 and Sega Virtual on. I always thought I would have to win the lottery to buy a virtual on. I would have never imagined I would actually own one someday!!! Here an assortment of gaming related dvd's, gamecube games, ps2 games and a few atari My controller storage bin. all the cords nicely wrapped!! Here is some pictures of my game storage cabinet. just some remnants of my formerly huge collection. The reason you guys don't see hardly any games is because usually play my NES powerpak or my dreamcast cdr's(dreamcast is in the living room). I own 1 or 2 real dc games. I also forgot to take pictures of my 2600/7800 collection. I only have about 50 commons, but i'm working and focusing exclusively on Atari systems now. Here is my MAME cabinet. It gets a good amount of playtime!! I am replacing the monitor right now so I didn't take a new picture today, but here is a old one.... It was a Bally Tri-sports trackball cabinet. I took the original metal panel and drilled new holes for a fighting game layout. Happ controls hooked to a keywiz keyboard encoder. There is a Happ usb 2 1/4 lit trackball in between the standard controls. I am running a basic Dell dimension 2400 celeron pc in there. I have a bunch of 2D figters and classics loaded that I usually play. I think it is one of the most "tasteful" MAME's I've seen. I hate when people use a MAME marquee .The cabinet started as a high quality wood cabinet with vinyl completely wrapping it. I peeled the vinyl off, taped a stripe on it(to show the wood beneath)and painted it with a nice enamel black. Hope you guys enjoyed my write up!!! any questions? Ghost Soldier
Nice looking cabs you have. What's the story behind the Virtual On ? Did you win the lottery?
atarigal
Is your daughter really named Atari? She's awful cute.
mike99mccarthy
LOL... Virtual on and other big dual cabs are not actually worth that much, because no one has the room for them and no one wants to move them! it only cost me $400. My Daughter is named Atari Star McCarthy. I was not really a big Atari fan @ the time and did not name her after the company/system. My wife and I actually worked with a 25 year old(in 2007)girl named Atari. My wife thought it worked perfectly as a beautiful girl's name. Master Phruby
Wow! I wish I had those arcade machines. How cool would it be to have them. I only have a Kanagroo machine.
mike99mccarthy
Wow! I wish I had those arcade machines. How cool would it be to have them. I only have a Kanagroo machine. Keep looking!! you would be suprised how many you can find for less than $300. I actually had that virtual on for sale for months for $250 on ebay and craigslist and no one would take it for that price!!! It was a fully operational game too.
